Thank you! Successful Virtual Summer Series Concludes

Our virtual summer workshop series has finally wrapped up! We would like to express our gratitude to our supporters and sponsors, the Herschel Supply Co. and Rising Youth, for their contributions to its success. 

From June 24th, 2020 to July 15, 2020, we hosted four weekly workshops on the topics from navigating post-secondary education and goal setting to skin care and STEM trivia. 

The youth engaged in discussions around the following:

• Determining degree majors and minors

• Cultivating relationships with academic professionals

• Exchange programs to enhance academic experiences

• Financial resources for post-secondary studies

• Creating SMART goals and affirmations to build confidence

• Skin care as self care

• Reflection on key learnings throughout the series

We successfully engaged 20 youth in the Greater Toronto Area within these four weeks and provided each youth with back-to-school and skincare supply packages. 

Our series has allowed the youth to not only grow an excitement for post-secondary pathways, but to also  think beyond the academic experience; this is evident in one of the participants’ feedback: “right after I left the program I thought and figured out I might want to do something art related in college or university … I learned a lot and I also want to be an exchange student in Italy and hopefully receive a scholarship.” 

We are ecstatic that the workshops provided youth the knowledge and strategies to begin thinking about their academic journey, but also ways to practice self care and build confidence to achieve their goals. The youth’s participation, enthusiasm and curiosity is inspiring and we are excited to be a resource for them on their pathway to success.
